Charlotte Cummins’ Profession Mass in York

On Sunday, 10 September we were delighted when Charlotte Cummins took her first vows as a member of the Congregation of Jesus. This took place in the Bar Convent Chapel in the presence of Charlotte’s family, friends and members of the CJ and IBVM. As is customary in an Ignatian religious community Charlotte professed her three vows of poverty, chastity and obedience during the celebration of Mass. The chief celebrant was Fr Nicholas King SJ assisted by Fr Pablo de Lima and Fr Dominic O’Toole CSsR. (see photo above).

Charlotte had completed her two years as a novice in the common European Novitiate in Vienna under the guidance of Sr Johanna Schulenburg CJ. It was therefore lovely that all the members of the Vienna community were able to be present for this solemn moment and for the celebrations that continued for the rest of the day (see photo below).
