On November 29 our candidate, Leona Fernandes, was admitted as a postulant by Frances Orchard CJ, our provincial superior.
This simple, prayerful, and joyful ceremony took place at our London house, during which Leona was presented with the first part of our Constitutions, which she will study over the next few months. Leona is now a member of the Willesden Lane community and of the wider circle of Mary Ward’s companions.
Leona comes to us from Canada, where she has been studying theology in Toronto for the past year. She also has a background in ministry with ex-prisoners and people struggling with addiction.
Postulancy is the first stage of formation in the Congregation of Jesus. It lasts 6-9 months, and is a time for further discernment of God’s call. During these months Leona will get to know the Congregation of Jesus better through the experience of community life, study the first part of the Constitutions, find out a bit more about Mary Ward, and do some volunteering work in the local area.
Join us in keeping Leona in your prayers during her postulancy – may it be rich in blessings!
