Dr Hannah Thomas will be taking up the new post of Bar Convent Special Collections and Research Manager in September. This is a more extended post than archivist and Hannah is very well qualified for it.
Hannah qualified as an archivist at Aberystwyth University and went on to further studies at Swansea University completing her Ph.D. in 2014. Her thesis was entitled: ‘A great number of popish books’: a study of the Welsh Jesuit missionary library of the College of St Francis Xavier, c. 1600–1679.
Since qualifying Hannah has held a two-year Postdoctoral fellowship (2014–2017) as the Sepulchrine Research Associate in Early Modern English Catholicism awarded by the Centre for Catholic Studies, within the Department of Theology and Religion at Durham University. She has worked with the Canonesses of the Holy Sepulchre over this same period assisting with archive management, the implementation of basic preservation methods, and various techniques for better management of the Sepulchrine collection.
As soon as new contact details are available they will be posted on the website. Meanwhile contact can be made via the Bar Convent reception (01904 643238)
