This August, we have had the deaths of two members of the CJ English Province. Both sisters were long-standing members of the York CJ Community. Sr Patricia Harriss (born July 1933) died on 11th August 2025 and Sr Christina Kenworthy-Browne (born November 1928) died two days later on 13th August 2025.
Sr Patricia Harriss died in York Hospital after a short, acute illness having been taken ill in Munich. Patricia was aged 92. Her funeral took place on 19 August in the Bar Convent Chapel which was packed with family members, sisters from both Mary Ward Congregations, friends and co-workers from far and wide. The death of Sr Christina Kenworthy-Browne occurred just two days after that of Sr Patricia on 13 August at St Joseph’s Infirmary in York. Sr Christina aged 97 had been failing for some time and her death was not unexpected. Her funeral took place on Tuesday, 02 September at the Bar Convent at 2.00pm and was attended by sisters, family, friends and people she knew from many walks of life.
